HC Deb 28 October 1993 vol 230 c757W
Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what reasons underlie his decision to apply different rules for publication of the terms of commercial contracts between tenderers for contracts with public bodies providing urban bus services inside Greater London and those elsewhere in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Norris

Different legislation governs the provision of bus services in London from that in the rest of the country.

Outside London, the rules for publication of information about bus route contracts are laid down by the Transport Act 1985. Inside London, it is London Transport which is responsible for deciding whether to publish the terms of commercial contracts for the provision of tendered bus services.
