HC Deb 27 October 1993 vol 230 c703W
Mr. Cox

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what action his Department is taking following the award of £6,500 to corporal Jake Malcolm following racial discrimination shown to him while serving in the United Kingdom armed forces; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hanley

It has been made clear throughout the services that racial discrimination, harassment or abuse will not be tolerated. Since the case of corporal Malcolm, the Army has issued a letter to commands reminding them of the armed forces' policy on race relations. To reinforce this policy, a code of practice on race relations will be published shortly for dissemination throughout the services.
