HC Deb 26 October 1993 vol 230 cc567-8W
Mr. Cox

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the price charged at the most recent date for surplus cereals from the EC sold on the world market; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Jack

Export sales from intervention are made by weekly tender. In setting prices under these tenders, account is taken of factors such as the current market situation, demand for the grain concerned, the need to minimise intervention stocks and the need to obtain the best possible price.

Details of the most recent sales on to the world market from EC intervention stores are as follows:

Quantity (tonnes) Price(ECU/tonne) Member State
Wheat (21 October 1993)
