§ Mr. BrookeEnglish Heritage is the Government's principal expert adviser on the historic environment. In addition to maintaining an historic estate of some 400 properties, it gives advice to the general public on conservation issues and gives grants for the repair of buildings of outstanding architectural and historic interest.
