HC Deb 22 October 1993 vol 230 c386W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information was provided to the Sheehy committee on(a) the number and percentage of policemen who died within five years of retirement and (b) the number who died before the age of 60 years.

Mr. Charles Wardle

The Government Actuary's Department provided the inquiry with a summary of the main assumptions used for the police pension scheme. These include the probability of death in-service for police officers aged 20 to 55 and the expectation of life of police officers retiring at ages 50 and 60.
