HC Deb 22 October 1993 vol 230 c402W
Mr. Llwyd

To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will make it his policy to declare a moratorium on the export of land mines from the United Kingdom.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

I have been asked to reply.

We are not contemplating separate legislation to cover the export of land mines from the United Kingdom. We believe that our current stringent controls on the export of defence equipment, which includes control on all mines, are sufficient to stop the sale of these weapons to countries which may use them in an irresponsible manner.
