30. Mr. William O'Brien

To ask the Attorney-General what representations he has received over young offenders not being prosecuted when a guilty plea has been made in a statement to the police; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

Where an offence is admitted the police will consider cautioning the offender, following cautioning guidelines issued by the Home Office, usually without reference to the Crown Prosecution Service.
