To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the cost of drawing up plans to market test the prison dog service.

Responsibility for this matter has been delegated to the director general of the Prison Service, who has been asked to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from D. Lewis to Ms Joan Ruddock, dated 18 October 1993: The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question about the cost of drawing up plans to market test the prison dog service. I estimate this to be approximately £7,000, mainly the cost of the time of two staff members temporarily allocated to the project.
