§ Mr. StewartThe following tables set out the names and periods of appointment of the chairmen and board members of Scottish Enterprise and of Highlands and Islands Enterprise and of their predecessor bodies, the Scottish Development Agency and the Highlands and Islands Development Board. The salaries payable at 1 April in each of the last five years are set out in the tables. Details of precise payments made including expenses are not readily available.
There are no other economic development agencies in respect of which my right hon. Friend is responsible for the appointment and remuneration of board members. In particular, the Scottish Office does not keep systematic records of the board membership of local enterprise companies. The board members of local enterprise companies receive no remuneration in respect of their membership. Reimbursement of expenses incurred by board members in connection with their membership is a matter for the companies themselves.
