§ Mr. KirkwoodTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence what changes have taken place in the requirements for competency in medium and/or high altitude weapons delivery for operational Tornado aircrew over the past four years.
§ Mr. HanleySince 1991, crews are required to complete two medium-level weaponry profiles prior to366W being awarded combat ready status. They are then required to complete 12 medium-level weapons profiles as part of the aircrew annual training syllabus. In addition, designated thermal imaging and laser designator crews are afforded extra sorties as are those on specific operational duties. Weapon delivery can only be undertaken at low and medium level by Tornado aircraft.
