HC Deb 29 November 1993 vol 233 c366W
Mr. Kirkwood

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what are the regulations governing the carriage of live weaponry on military aircraft using civil airports in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Hanley

Military aircraft carrying live weapons plan not to use civil airports in the United Kingdom. Where, for safety reasons, an aircraft has to land as a matter of urgency however, an approach and landing may be made to a civil airport. In such cases the airport authorities are informed that weapons are being carried before the aircraft lands. On landing, all necessary precautions are taken to ensure the safety of the public and surrounding area.
