§ Mr. Llew SmithTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on the findings of his Department's joint report with the Department of the Environment reviewing the performance at 25 local authorities in meeting the targets set in part I of the Environmental Protection Act 1990; when the report was forwarded to(a) the Local Authority Enforcement Liaison Committee and (b) Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution; and to which other bodies it has been distributed.
§ Mr. RedwoodI refer the hon. Gentleman to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Minister of State for the 245W Environment and Countryside to the hon. Member for City of Chester (Mr. Brandreth) on 3 November, Official Report, column 207. Of the 25 local authorities included in the review, three are in Wales.
The local authority associations and Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution are represented on the inspectorate of pollution/Local Authority Enforcement Liaison Committee. That committee approved the Department of the Environment/Welsh Office review report on 29 September. Copies of the report have since been provided to all relevant local authorities in England and Wales and to certain trade associations.
