§ Mr. RaynsfordTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish a table showing the total number of proposals to amend council tax valuations received to date by valuation offices in England; and how many of these have been dealt with to date, including the numbers involving an amendment to the original banding and the date by which all outstanding proposals are expected to have been dealt with in each of the London boroughs.
§ Mr. BaldryI refer the hon. Member to the answer the Minister for Local Government and Planning gave to the right hon. Member for Derby, South (Mrs. Beckett) on Thursday 25 November. Of the proposals settled to date, around 80,000 have resulted in an amendment to the original banding.
As my hon. Friend announced on 29 June, Official Report column 416, we expect some 560,000 council tax appeals to have been settled in England before the end of 1994, with the remaining cases being decided as rapidly as possible in 1995. Progress to date has been consistent with this expectation. I cannot, however forecast a precise end-date, either for England as a whole or for individual local authority areas.
