To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the members of the Canada geese working group; and what organisations or sector each of them represents.

  • C. Booty—Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
  • Dr. J. Kirby—Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.
  • G. Macniven—London Borough of Wandsworth.
  • Miss S. Davies—Joint Nature Conservation Committee.

Information about the number, and levels of remuneration, of people appointed to public bodies for which I am responsible is given in the annual HMSO publication "Public Bodies". A copy of the current issue is held at the House of Commons Library and "Public Bodies 1993" will be published shortly. Additionally, and excluding departmental committees, of which no central record is maintained, I make appointments to the following bodies:

  • Dr. C. Feare—Central Science Laboratory.
  • Dr. N. Reynolds—British Association for Shooting and Conservation.
  • Dr. S. Smith—National Farmers Union.

  • Dr. D. Goode—London Ecology Unit and the Association of Metropolitan Authorities.
  • J. Stephens—Department of the Environment.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust also cover the interests of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).
