14WAthe Ministerial and other Salaries Order 1991. The Government have considered carefully the level of ministerial salaries and, taking all factors into account, now propose an increase to be paid in two stages. For Ministers and office holders in the House of Commons the first stage will be an increase of 2.7 per cent. to be paid with effect from 1st January 1994. The second stage, an increase of 2.68 per cent, will be paid with effect from 1st January 1995.
In accordance with a resolution of the House of Commons of 3rd November 1993, a similar increase will be applied to the reduced parliamentary salaries paid to Commons' Ministers and paid office holders which will rise from the current rate of £23,223 to £23,854 from 1st January 1994 and £24,495 from 1st January 1995.
Ministers and office holders in this House will receive increases equivalent in cash terms to the increase received by their counterparts in the other place taking account of their Ministerial salaries and their reduced parliamentary salaries. The draft Ministerial and other Salaries Order 1993 to implement the changes from 1st January 1994 was laid in the House on 2nd November 1993.
The details are set out in the tables below.
