Mr. Bayley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many cases of cranial synostosis have occurred per 100,000 births in each health authority over the last 10 years.

Information for the calendar year 1992 is shown in the table. The cost information is in terms of net ingredient cost, that is, the basic cost of the drugs before discount and excluding dispensing costs and fees.

The drugs used for the treatment of asthma are those shown in the following "British National Formulary" sections:

  • 3.1—Bronchodilators
  • 3.2—Corticosteroids
  • 3.3—Cromoglycate and related therapy.
