HL Deb 03 November 1993 vol 549 c129WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What information they have about events in Kosovo, since the Conference on Security Co-operation in Europe (CSCE) observers left that region.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

Following Belgrade's decision to expel the long duration missions of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) from Kosovo, our embassy in Belgrade was instructed to follow the situation there more closely and has made several visits. Embassies from other CSCE nations are also making regular visits. We remain concerned about reports of Serbian repression of the ethnic Albanian population, and we continue to urge Belgrade to allow CSCE missions to return to monitor the situation.
