HL Deb 02 November 1993 vol 549 c106WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What international efforts are being made to reopen the airport at Tuzla in order to increase the flow of aid to Bosnia, and why these efforts have so far been unsuccessful.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

The UNHCR are urgently considering options for re-opening Tuzla airport. Much depends upon the cooperation of the warring parties to ensure the security of relief flights. Considerable progress has been made recently in talks between UNPROFOR and the local Bosnian authorities, but agreement has yet to be reached with the Bosnian Serb army, whose artillery is within range of the airport.
