HL Deb 02 November 1993 vol 549 cc105-6WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the present situation in the United Nations Protection Force (UNPROFOR) areas of Croatia; whether Serb and Croat forces in those areas have been withdrawn or disarmed; and whether any of the displaced original inhabitants have been able to return.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

The general situation in the United Nations protected areas of Croatia is described as calm, but we continue to receive reports of sporadic shelling and small arms fire. The Croatian Government and Croatian Serbs have so far failed to reach an agreement on either a cease-fire or a withdrawal from lines of confrontation. No displaced persons have been able to return to their homes.
