Mr. Pendry

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list all persons and organisations in Holland with whom arrangements were made by his Department in the period preceding the England versus Holland football match of 13 October with a view to extending the provisions of the Football Spectators (Corresponding Offences in Italy) Order 1990 to cover offences committed in Holland; and if he will make a statement.

The Government continue to seek bilateral agreements under part II of the Football Spectators Act 1989. In the case of the Netherlands,

officials have been in contact with officials in the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Ministry of the Interior, both direct and through the British embassy in the Hague. My right hon. and learned Friend has also written to the Dutch Minister of Justice on this subject.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many criminal proceedings involving alleged offences contained in sections 2, 3 and 4 of the Football (Offences) Act 1991 have been pursued since it came into force on 10 August 1991; and if he will make a statement.

Information for 1991 and 1992, which is provisional, is given in the following table. The 1993 data will not be available until autumn 1994.
