Ms Janet Anderson

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish a table showing for each relevant authority(a) its 1993–94 standard spending

Department from civil defence grant aid allocations in respect of income generated by local authority emergency planning units; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

The table gives the amount of income which is declared by each county council and fire and civil defence authority for the five financial years 1990–91 to 1994–95. Figures for earlier years could be retrieved only by incurring disproportionate costs.

We are not aware of any case in which grant aid was reduced to take account of declared income. It remains our policy that local authorities should continue to benefit from income generate locally and they will be notified of the new arangemetns in time for 1 April 1994.
