HC Deb 25 May 1993 vol 225 cc544-5W
Mr. Dafis

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what action has been taken to date by his Department to implement European Community Regulation No. 2978/92 on the development of a multinational zonal agri-environment scheme for Wales.

Mr. David Hunt

I refer the hon. Gentleman to the reply given to the hon. and learned Member for Montgomery (Mr. Carlile) on 17 May 1993 at column 55.

Mr. Dafis

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what plans he has to extend agri-environmental schemes currently operational in Wales to cover the Ceredigion area.

Mr. David Hunt

The Cambrian mountains—original and extension—environmentally sensitive areas (ESAs) already cover part of Ceredigion. I have no plans to extend the boundaries of these ESAs. Other schemes containing agri-environmental elements, such as the farm woodland premium scheme, the farm and conservation grant scheme and hedgerow renovation scheme, are already available in Ceredigion.
