HL Deb 24 May 1993 vol 546 cc1-2WA
Lord Marlesford

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Which departmental vote bears the net cost to the British taxpayer, after United Nations reimbursements, of the involvement of United Kingdom military personnel in UN operations.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey: Under existing financial arrangements the extra costs of deploying United Kingdom military personnel to United Nations peacekeeping operations fall to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office vote. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is also responsible for pursuing claims for reimbursement with the United Nations.
