HL Deb 24 May 1993 vol 546 c1WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have any evidence that Iran has been supplied with 155mm explosive shells since 1987 by Allivane International (British), Luchaire (French), Consar (Italian) and its Hong Kong subsidiary Sea Consar, Gea-Erber (Italian), Muidden Chemie (Dutch) or Spel (Portuguese); and whether they have evidence that Iran is continuing to be so supplied.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

No lethal defence equipment has been supplied from the UK to Iran since 1979. Following our recent review of export licensing policy towards Iran, revised criteria were announced to the House on 1st March. Any British company found to be in breach of these criteria would be subject to prosecution. Information about the trading activities of individual companies, however, remains commercially confidential.
