§ Mr. Ieuan Wyn JonesTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment what research has been undertaken by her Department into the feasibility of offering Government-funded training credits to all persons aged 16 years to meet the learning costs of approved courses.
§ Mr. McLoughlinYouth credits are already available in 20 areas of Britain and the Government's aim is that in 1996 every 16 and 17-year-old leaving full-time education will have the offer of a credit. The Department has a programme of research to evaluate youth credits schemes, to help identify good practice emerging from operational experience, encourage continuous improvement, and inform consideration of any proposals to use a credits funding mechanism in other circumstances.
