HC Deb 19 May 1993 vol 225 cc172-3W
Dr. Strang

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many IACS forms were received by 15 May; and what proportions of those were from(a) mostly arable and (b) mostly livestock farms.

Mr. Gummer

We received about 155,000 IACS application forms in the United Kingdom by 15 May. We are not able to provide a breakdown between arable and livestock farms.

Dr. Strang

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) what proportion of IACS forms received were fully acceptable and will not involve any penalty for the farmer in whose name they were completed;

(2) what proportion of forms completed by (a) mostly arable farmers and (b) livestock farmers will be liable to incur penalties.

Mr. Gummer

We have not yet carried out the detailed checking of IACS that will determine whether the applications are fully acceptable, or whether penalties will have to be applied.

Dr. Strang

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what period of time arable and livestock farmers had to complete their IACS forms.

Mr. Gummer

Most farmers had a minimum of about six weeks between receiving the IACS documentation and the 15 May deadline for receipt of the completed applications.
