HC Deb 14 May 1993 vol 224 c622W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what consultations his Department carried out with non-governmental organisations concerned with proliferation matters prior to preparing the British policy position and proposals for the first preparatory committee meeting on 10 to 14 May for the fifth review conference on the nuclear nonproliferation treaty; and what criteria were used in choosing the non-governmental organisations with which he consulted.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

Our Department has regular contacts with non-governmental organisations interested in the treaty on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and intends to continue these. We received no requests from such organisations for consultations on our policy in regard to this meeting.
