HC Deb 11 May 1993 vol 224 c403W
18. Mrs. Gorman

To ask the Secretary of State for Education what steps he is taking to make parental choice in education easier to exercise.

Mr. Forth

The policy of more open enrolment has increased parental choice by requiring maintained schools to admit up to their physical capacity. All parents now have the right to say which school they prefer their children to attend. The Government are continuing their drive to make more information about schools publicly available. This will enhance choice by helping parents to make wise decisions about their children's education.
