HC Deb 11 May 1993 vol 224 c403W
17. Mr. Denham

To ask the Secretary of State for Education when he next plans to meet organisations representing parents to discuss improving the quality of education.

Mr. Forth

My right hon. Friend met the National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations, which is said to represent the views of some 7.5 million parents, on Monday 26 April. At that meeting, I am pleased to say, the NCPTA confirmed their support in principle for the national curriculum together with its associated testing arrangements. He also met a delegation from Parents' initiative a few weeks ago and gave a speech at the annual conference of the Campaign for Real Education on April 17. All these occasions allowed him to speak with parents and to seek their views on issues.
