To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, pursuant to his answer of 28 April,Official Report, column 413, over what period of time the maximum average of 83 hours of work per week by junior doctors is calculated; and what consultations he has had with health authorities and NHS trusts as to whether any junior doctor is working, on average, above 83 hours per week in breach of contract.

The average weekly hours of duty for junior doctors is calculated over their normal rostered duty period. Health authorities and NHS trusts have recently been asked to report on the hours of duty of all for junior doctors
