HC Deb 31 March 1993 vol 222 c305W
17. Mr. Riddick

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to introduce grant-maintained schools in Scotland; and if he will make a statement.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The legislative frame-work is in place and schools have been encouraged to consider the advantages of self-governing status. At St. Mary's Episcopal primary school, Dunblane the parents voted in favour of self-government status. The school board now has one month to submit proposals to the Secretary of State.
