HC Deb 23 March 1993 vol 221 cc557-8W
Dr. Godman

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what recent discussions he has had with ScotRail and Strathclyde regional council concerning the repairs to be carried out to the Newton Street railway tunnel; and if he will make a statement.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

[holding answer 22 March 1993]: The repairs to the Newton Street railway tunnel are matters for British Rail and Strathclyde regional council, through Strathclyde passenger transport executive. My right hon. Friend did, however, take the need for the repairs fully into account in Strathclyde regional council's capital allocations provision for 1992–93 and 1993–94. I understand that the works are expected to be carried out between October 1993 and May 1994.
