To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assistance the Government are offering to assist with the southern African drought; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Since the beginning of 1992 we have committed about £67 million for drought work in southern Africa, including our share of the EC special food aid programme. We are ready to provide further help where it is most needed.
