HC Deb 22 March 1993 vol 221 c462W
38. Mr. Duncan

To ask the Attorney-General by what method he informs offenders whose sentence appears to him to be unduly lenient that he is referring the sentence to the Court of Appeal under section 36 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988.

The Attorney-General

Rules of court place that responsibility on the court. However, it is my practice to inform the offender of my application before informing other interested parties. He may be informed direct, through his solicitor or via the governor of the relevant prison.
