HC Deb 17 March 1993 vol 221 c256W
Sir John Hunt

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is his policy on the recognition of the independence of the Republic of Macedonia with a name acceptable to its population; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Goodlad

The Edinburgh European Council decided to set aside the recognition of Macedonia to concentrate on issues that would be of practical assistance, including UN membership. The question of recognition is, therefore, still under consideration.
