To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what has been(a) the amount and (b) the kind of European Community surplus food-stuffs distributed in (i) Inverclyde, (ii) Strathclyde and (iii) Scotland as a whole in each of the past five years.

The distribution of butter and beef in Strathclyde, and in Scotland as a whole, under the European Community surplus food scheme over the last two years is shown in the table. Amounts distributed by area are not available for earlier years.
