§ Mr. NorrisVessels operating as emergency/standby vessels may transport personnel and cargo from ship to platform or rig and from platform to platform or rig.
However no such vessel can be considered to be a standby vessel when carrying out such functions. The standby vessel role take precedence over any other function.
§ Dr. GodmanTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the average size crew of emergency/standby vessels operating in the offshore oil and gas fields; and what is the ratio of deck crew to engine room personnel.
§ Mr. NorrisThe minimum size crew of emergency/standby vessels, operating in the offshore oil and gas fields, is 12. There is a ratio of 10:2 between deck crew and engine room personnel. The majority of such vessels sail with the minimum crew number.
