To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many hours were worked per week on average by British Railways Board train drivers during the latest period for which figures are available.

During the week ended 27 February 1993 railway train drivers, excluding those absent through sickness or for other reasons for all or part of the week, worked an average of 47.9 hours.
