To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what date he has set for the completion of the upgrading process of British Rail's existing freight loading gauge to the SBI loading gauge.

This is an operational matter for British Rail. I understand that BR has set itself the objective of completing the upgrading in time for the opening of the channel tunnel.
