To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is the average cost of prescriptions written by doctors who are(a) fund holders and (b) non-fund holders.

This information is not held centrally. However, in 1991–92, the average number of prescription items dispensed per head was 8.6.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will list all medicines and treatments which are available on a prescription-only basis, whose cost price is lower than £4.25; and if she will make a statement.
