§ Mr. Archie HamiltonThe Australian Minister for Primary Industries and Energy met my noble Friend, the then Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Armed Forces, in November 1991 to discuss the Australian request for a United Kingdom contribution towards the cost of further rehabilitation of the former United Kingdom nuclear weapon tests sites at Maralinga and Emu Field. We have no plans for further meetings, but there has been regular contact with the Australian authorities on this subject and we hope to respond to the Australian request shortly.
