HC Deb 10 March 1993 vol 220 c602W
Mr. Peter Bottomley

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment (1) in which publication, speech or statement her Department has described how it takes account of the family perspective and the life cycle in the targets, activities and statistics of her Department;

(2) if she will make a statement on how her Department takes account of the family perspective and the family life cycle in the targets, activities and statistics of the Department.

Mr. McLoughlin

The objectives, activities and expenditure plans of the Department are set out in the latest departmental report, Cm 2205. Full account is taken of the implications for the family in developing and operating policies and programmes. For example, this January, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State launched a booklet entitled, "Rising to the Challenge", which encourages employers and individuals to consider the advantages of women achieving their full potential in the workplace. In April 1993, a new out-of-school child care grant will be introduced, which will make it easier for parents of school-age children to participate fully in the labour market.
