§ 13. Mr. Jonathan Evans
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the progress of the Trident programme.

§ Mr. Aitken
The Trident programme continues to progress to time and within budget towards its in-service date of the mid-1990s.

§ 25. Mrs. Helen Jackson
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence when the Government expect to reach a decision on how many strategic nuclear warheads will be deployed on Trident.

§ Mr. Aitken
The Government have made clear that our Trident submarines will enter service from the mid-1990s carrying no more than 128 warheads. The exact number to be deployed will be decided in the light of circumstances at the time.
