What action they are taking to support the supply and local production of hand tools in third world countries as part of appropriate, environmentally friendly technology of particular relevance to job creation.

Our aid projects are designed to ensure that any technology we supply is appropriate and environmentally sound. This applies to hand tools as much as any other technology. We also fund the Intermediate Technology Development Group, which aims to spread the use of technologies appropriate to low income groups as a means of raising their income earning opportunities. Data about spending on hand tools is not collated centrally.
