HC Deb 05 March 1993 vol 220 cc310-1W
Mr. Pickthall

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will detail the measures taken by his Department to ensure the absence of Oxamyl from imported food; and how many prosecutions for the presence of Oxamyl there have been during the past 12 months.

Mr. Soames

Oxamyl is approved for use on food crops in the United Kingdom and elsewhere. Monitoring of both domestically produced and imported food is carried out by the Government's working party on pesticide residues. Maximum residue levels for oxamyl in various crops have been set by the United Nations Codex Alimentarius Commission. There have been no prosecutions for the presence of Oxamyl during the past 12 months.
