HC Deb 05 March 1993 vol 220 cc366-7W
Mr. Norman Hogg

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many representations he has received to date from public bodies, organisations and individuals concerning the proposed extension of the M80 motorway between Stepps and Haggs.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

[holding answer 1 March 1993]: The formal presentations made to regional and district councils and other bodies in the latter part of 1992 and the series of public meetings which followed have prompted 53 representations to date. Of these, seven have been from local authorities and public bodies, six from community councils and residents associations, eight from organisations and 32 from individuals. In their representations the local authorities and public bodies have mainly supported the Kelvin Valley route with none coming out against it. The remainder of the representations have tended to reflect the particular interest of the group or individual concerned, with those living alongside the alternative A80 route opposing it and those affected by the Kelvin Valley route rejecting that line. A small number of individuals have questioned the justification for either route.
