§ Mr. IngramTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he intends to implement the proposed changes to the local government boundary between East Kilbride district council and Eastwood district council.
§ Mr. Stewart[holding answer 1 March 1993]: As is usual is such cases, my Department invited the affected local authorities to propose a mutually convenient date for the transfer to take effect. No date has yet been volunteered. My officials have now written to the authorities setting a deadline of the end of March 1993 for them to agree a date. In the absence of agreement by that date the Secretary of State will make the order required to implement the changes. The date selected will be binding on all parties.
