§ Mr. EggarI am aware of the concerns that Safeways and others in the retail sector have about the damaging effects on the United Kingdom recycling industry of the German approach to packaging recycling. My Department has received written representations from individual retailers and the British Retail Consortium, and from wider industry groups such as the Consortium of the Packaging Chain. We are currently discussing the position with the interests concerned.
