HC Deb 04 March 1993 vol 220 c251W
Mr. Dafis

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales on how many occasions the World Health Organisation's one hour guidelines on(a) sulphur dioxide and (b) ozone have been exceeded in Wales in each year since 1990.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

Records indicate that the World Health Organisation's one hour guidelines for ozone were exceeded in Wales on 21 occasions and 16 occasions in 1990 and 1992, respectively, but that no excesses occurred in 1991. For sulphur dioxide, the guidelines were exceeded on two occasions in 1992 but were not exceeded in either 1990 or 1991. No excesses have occurred to date in 1993 for sulphur dioxide or ozone.
