HC Deb 04 March 1993 vol 220 c242W
30. Mr. Knox

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement about the level of total demand in the economy.

Mr. Portillo

Latest data indicate that the level of real domestic demand in the third quarter of 1992 was 0.6 per cent. higher than a year earlier. The majority of the Treasury's panel of independent forecasters and other outside forecasters expect it to pick up further in 1993. The Government will publish a new forecast in the financial statement and Budget report on 16 March.
